Doc Heile's Diabetes is an information and awareness site intended for people with diabetes and the people who support them. It is a thriving online community that people with diabetes, family members, nurses, dietitians, educators, mental health professionals and others can use to share ideas and offer support to one another. It is also a clearinghouse for news, research, and information on diabetes initiatives. One of the initiatives that this site supports is the islet cell research performed by islet surgeon Horacio Rilo, MD, of the University of Cincinnati.
The site is supported and maintained by Mike Heile, MD, and his supporters, including many of his own patients. A juvenile diabetic himself, Dr. Heile is a family practitioner on the west side of Cincinnati. He is a longtime insulin pump user and strives for the best standards of care available both for himself and his diabetic patients. |
